Guidelines and Restrictions: 

  • Changes must remain within the student's designated school attendance area.
  • Requests for the start of the school year should be submitted by August 1st and must be filed annually. Requests do not carry over from previous school year. 
  • Approved changes after school begins typically require five school days for processing.
  • Late requests are subject to further restrictions, ensuring they do not cause bus overloads, additional mileage, or route rescheduling outside their school attendance area. 
  • If request is denied, parent or guardian may appeal in writing to the Superintendent’s office at 23 Highland Avenue, Westerly, RI  02891.
