Congratulations to Chef Jamie Finkelstein!

Westerly Public Schools District Teacher of the Year 2025-26

Chef has had an outsized impact on a CTE culinary program that is second to none. Our culinary students are thriving. They represent WHS and our district at events and competitions throughout the region and are acquiring the skills and work habits that are setting them up for success after graduation. 

Jamie plays an ongoing and critical role in expanding Career and Technical Education opportunities for our students and is currently engaged in the important work of supporting expanded access to CTE programming for students with cognitive and/or physical challenges that might otherwise impede their participation.

Under Chef's leadership, our culinary program is now also directly benefiting the Westerly community at large through the hugely successful food recovery program; making high quality meals available to our families in need each week with distribution points now located at WHS, the Westerly Public Library and the Pierce St. Police Substation.
